United States ESTA

This article is everything you need to know about the United States Electronic System for Travel Authorization ( ESTA), from Its application process to tips and many more.

Understanding ESTA

ESTA, or the Electronic System for Travel Authorization, helps identify travelers entering the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), allowing eligible nationals to visit for up to 90 days without a traditional visa for business, transit, or tourist purposes.

Purpose Of Electronic System for Travel Authorization

The basic purpose of ESTA is to strengthen security, pre-screen travelers for security breaches, and ensure seamless entry for travelers into the United States, This requires that travelers get cleared before they can be granted entry to the United States.

Who Needs ESTA?

The ESTA application must be submitted online at least 72 hours before the trip, and it is better to apply early to allow time for any necessary visa application in the event of denial. Therefore, It is essential to have an e-passport, which is a secure passport with an embedded electronic chip, to use the VWP.

Additionally, you must meet all VWP requirements, have a valid passport, and must remain valid for at least six months beyond your planned travel  to the U.S

Note that ESTA does not apply to  U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), or travelers who already possess a valid visa for entry into the United States.
